This blog is a collaborative effort between Veritas staff members and Mizzou students. Check out the brief bios below to learn a bit about who we are and what we’re interested in. Feel free to e-mail any author with questions regarding the blog or Veritas.

Ryan Wampler: Much of my thinking is trying to connect the dots between the Bible, the lens through which I see the world, and the way I actually live my life.  I’m a Mizzou grad, and got a theological education at a post-grad school in St. Louis.  My particular areas of interest are: reflecting on books and films, connecting theology and culture, and trying to learn how to live greener. Kermit Summerall: I’m overwhelmingly graced by my Savior who has rescued me and accepted me for who I am.  I love my job as Veritas Co-Director – getting to help students see the glories of God in Christ!  Husband to my Nicole and three incredible kiddos.  Love me some Coldplay, some college football (Alabama Crimson Tide style and yes, Mizzou too), some smoothies, and some good books by John Piper, C.S. Lewis, etc. Read more by Kermit

Colleen Kelly: I graduated from Mizzou in May ’09 with an English degree and joined staff with Veritas soon after. My job is GREAT.  I love working with students, living life with them, and helping them to see the beauty of the gospel and what it practically means for their lives.  I’m originally from St. Louis, but love living in Columbia.  Other things I love: reading (anything and everything), walking, being outside, coffee & coffee shops, conversation, theology, exploring, saturdays, parks, The West Wing, and adventures. Patrick K. Miller: Currently I am living in Columbia serving at the University of Missouri with Veritas, The Crossing’s campus ministry.  In December 2010 I graduated from Mizzou with a degree in English Literature. My beautiful wife, Emily, is an interior designer with a local firm. I like espresso, 30 Rock, and books. My favorite old dead guys are John Owen, Augustine and Francis Schaeffer. You should read something by them. Read more by Patrick

Austin Conner: I grew up in St. Louis as an only child and a die hard Cardinals fan. I graduated from Mizzou with a degree in Secondary Social Studies Education, and now am full time staff with Veritas. My favorite things to do include watching sports (MU Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers to name a few), hanging and having good, deep, real conversations with people, and watching movies – it doesn’t get much better than Man on Fire and Dumb & Dumber. Some of my favorite authors and speakers include Tim Keller, CJ Mahaney, John Piper, and Mark Driscoll.

Addison Hawkins: I’m still working on graduating from Mizzou with a Communication major with only one semester to go. Applying my knowledge of the gospel and its truths to the world around me brings me great joy, including analyzing film, writing, art, the internet, communication, people and other various genres found inside pop culture. I enjoy college and the people who make up the college scene which has translated into a great love for college ministry. I have many influences from a few people including: Francis Schaeffer, C.S. Lewis, Dennis Haack, Jock McGregor, Tim Keller, Mark Driscol, and Matt Chandler. I love people and communicating with people so comments and responses are welcome and encouraged!! Read more by Addison

Noelle Richter: I graduated from Mizzou in May 2007 and started working with Veritas the following August. Though I’m a native Texan, I have a great place in my heart for Columbia and the experiences I’ve had here. I have a passion for traveling and experiencing new things that expand my understanding of the world around us. I also love listening to and discovering new music. If I could change one thing about me it would be the gift of musical talent. I find God’s glory most demonstrated in nature and the relationships he gives us with the people around us – that is why you’ll most likely find me outside or spending time with people. Kyle Richter: Originally from the Kansas City area, I graduated from Mizzou in 2007.  I was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity and maintain an avid interest in greek life at Mizzou.  I’m currently in my second year of full time ministry with Veritas. One of my great joys in life is connecting people and culture to the Truth of the Gospel. You’ll most likely find me laughing (silently), playing sports, somewhere outdoors, reading or downtown at one of Columbia’s great restaurants. I tend to be rather loud, so you’ll know if I’m near! Jessi Wood: I graduated from Mizzou with a degree in Magazine Journalism and came on staff with Veritas shortly after. I was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and continue to have a passion for Greek Life at Mizzou.  I’m originally from St. Louis, but now consider Columbia my home. One of my passions is talking with students and helping them to see the beauty of God in their life and the world around them. I love reading, coffee/coffee shops, spending time outside, getting to know people and traveling. Read more by Jessi.

Sam Kruvand: I grew up in St. Louis and I’ll be graduating from Mizzou with a double major in History and Latin in May 2011. God loves to restore and heal, and I try to reflect that truth in my writing. I’ve been reading C.S Lewis for most of my life, and he is far and away my favorite author. I also like listening to a guy named Ravi Zacharias. I enjoy hiking, skiing, road-tripping, coffee-shopping, Coldplay, and driving on Rock Quarry. Read more by Sam.

Kyle Hendricks: I grew up in the small town of Stockton, Missouri, graduated high school in ’06, and moved to Columbia back in August ’08.  I went to MACC for a couple of years, finally receiving my Associate of Arts degree, and am now a Philosophy major at MU.  The Lord used Veritas to bring me to faith and I am eternally grateful for the things they’ve done in my life!  I’m pretty infamous for my reading habits.  I read ALL the time!  My favorite subjects to read are theology, church history, and philosophy.  I also love being around other college students and discussing the deep issues in life.  My prayer is that my blogs will help people in their walk with Christ and that Veritas continues to reach out to college studends in need of the Gospel. Read more by Kyle.

Rex Oberle: I’m from St. Louis and I’ll be graduating from Mizzou in December 2011 with a Marketing degree. I’ve been involved with Veritas for about a year and a half and find myself continually blessed by the staff and community. I enjoy everything that is pop culture: politics, music, and movies (anything with Oscar buzz really). Read more by Rex.
